The 11th International Travel Expo- ITE HCMC 2015 opened at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center in District 7 in Ho Chi Minh City from September 9.
The event had the attendance of Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Tuan Anh, Standing Deputy Secretary of the HCMC's Party Committee Vo Van Thuong, Vice-Chairwoman of HCM City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Hong, ASEAN Tourism Ministers and cities’ leaders including Phnom Penh (Cambodia), Vientiane (Laos), Yangon (Myanmar), Bangkok (Thailand).
This year’s event themed ““One Decade, One Mekong, One World”,,” aims to promote potentials, key tourism products and strengthen cooperations among countries in the Mekong River region.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairwoman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Hong said that the ITE has become one of the leading travel events in Vietnam and the region with expanded scale and diversified activities.
One of the highlight events is a signing ceremony for bilateral tourism cooperation between Vietnam and ASEAN members, making a great significance in supporting the establishment of the ASEAN Economic Community 2015 by the end of 2015.
On this occasion, the award ceremony of the 7th Mekong Tourism Alliance Awards 2015 was organized. The prize aims to honor businesses with excellent contributions to the tourism sector of five countries in the sub-Mekong region.
The annual expo which is jointly held by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the People’s Committee of HCMC will last until September 12.
