Lam Quang Thanh, the delegation leader, said this is the first group of Vietnamese athletes to go to Myanmar to participate in the SEA Games. He added that flying by special chartered aircraft from Hanoi to Nay Pyi Taw helped the athletes to save stamina and they were ready to start practicing the very next day.

Meanwhile, Le Minh Ha, leader of the Vietnamese wushu team, said the team will try their best to win the first gold medal for Vietnam with wushu being the first sport to kick off the biennial multi-sports event of the Southeast Asia Region.
