Vietnam Television buys football World Cup rights for $7 mln

Vietnam Television said it has paid US$7 million for broadcast rights to the 2014 soccer World Cup in Brazil.

There will be a total of 64 matches on VTV 3 and VTV 6 channels.

VTV will also put it on the radio, Internet, and phones.

It will exclusively own all video, image, and information rights in Vietnam, and other media agencies have to have an agreement with the station if they want to use any of it.

The opening match between hosts Brazil and Croatia will kick off at 3 am on June 13.
