In shooting, four gold medals went to the men’s team in the 50m rifle 3 position and the 10m running target events.

Ngo Huu Vuong won a gold medal in the men’s 10m air rifle and running target with 372 points to break a SEA Games’ record of 370 points.

Nguyen Van Tung and Ngo Huu Vuong won gold in the men’s 10m air rifle team event.

Vu Thanh Hung, Nguyen Hoang Duy, and Pham Ngoc Thanh came first in the 50m rifle 3 position team event, with Ngoc Thanh also taking gold in the singles event.

In swimming, Vietnam brought home four gold medals out of a possible five in the first day of competition and set three new records at the SEA Games.

The first gold medal belonged to Duong Thi Huyen Trang who broke a record in the women’s 100m surface fin swimming event.

Nguyen Trung Kien followed suit, setting a SEA Games record in men’s 100m surface fin swimming.

Two more gold medals went to the men and women’s 4x100 relay surface fin swimming teams, with the men setting a new record.

In wrestling, Vietnam won two golds on the first day of competition. Man Ba Xuan defeated competitors Micheal Baletin from the Philippines and Saov Dorn from Cambodia in the men’s 74-kilogram division.

Another gold medal went to Ta Ngoc Tan in the men’s 60-kilogram division.

Vietnam also took three more silver medals in the 85 kg, 55kg and 66 kg divisions.

In judo, Vietnam won two golds when Huynh Nhat Thong defeated Chittakone from Laos in the men’s 55 kg division.

Nguyen Thanh Tai and Nguyen Ngoc Son won another gold medal in the men’s event. Meanwhile, Le Ngoc Van Anh and Nguyen Lan Linh took silver in the women’s event.

In shuttlecock, Le Thi Be Sau and Cao Hai Yen won gold after defeating host Laos.

In the women’s team event, Be Sau, Hai Yen and Trinh Thi Nga also beat their rival Cambodia. They will now play Laos on December 16 in the final.

In women’s football, Vietnam will take on Thailand December 16 at Vientiane’s Chao Anouvong stadium at 4pm.

In the men’s football final, Vietnam will take on Malaysia at 5 pm at the Laos National stadium.
