Several sports activities at Sea Festival 2013 in Nha Trang City

A variety of cultural, tourism and sports activities have been planned during the Sea Festival in Nha Trang City in the central province of Khanh Hoa from June 7 to 11.

A variety of cultural, tourism and sports activities have been planned during the Sea Festival in Nha Trang City in the central province of Khanh Hoa from June 7 to 11.

The highlight of the sport activities at the festival will be the International Beach Volleyball for women--the Sanna 2013 Cup, which attracts 10 teams from Australia, China, Thailand (two teams), Kazakhstan (two teams) and Vietnam (four teams), with prize money at VND200 million (US$10,000).

Also at the festival, for the very first time, the Beach Handball will be organized among six teams including three male and three female teams from Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Khanh Hoa. Ho Chi Minh City team is considered as the best for women’s team title while Hanoi team as the most competitive for men’s team title.

The competition will provide a chance for provinces to discover excellent talent to include in the Beach Handball Festival 2013 in Ha Long City in the Northern Province of Quang Ninh and later for the Fourth Asian Beach Games in Thailand.

This first match is being considered as a preparation for the Fifth Asian Beach Games 2016 which would be in Nha Trang City with participation of 45 countries.

Before, a bicycling award was launched by Khanh Hoa Press Association 2013 with participation of 195 athletes from domestic and international clubs.

These will be divided into three groups. Group A will be for people above 46-years-of-age with 79 athletes. Group B will be for people from 36 to 45-years-of-age with 80 athletes, and Group C will include people from 18 to 35-years-of-age with 36 athletes. Cycling Cup competitors pedaled along coastline streets of Tran Phu, Pham Van Dong and Luong Son.

Tourism Golf prize will run from June 8 and 9 at Diamond Bay Stadium for the first time with attractive prizes on the occasion of opening of the Diamond Bay Golf Club--one of Vietnam’s most beautiful golf courses.

The 2013 Sea Festival themed ‘Nha Trang-Sea Rendezvous’, focuses on events accentuating the beauty of Vietnam’s Sea and Islands.
