Runner Truong Thanh Hang wins ASIAD silver for Vietnam

Vietnam’s sports delegation on Nov. 23 won another silver at the 16th Asian Games (ASIAD 16) in Guangzhou, China.

Vietnam’s sports delegation on Nov. 23 won another silver at the 16th Asian Games (ASIAD 16) in Guangzhou, China.

The silver medal was earned by track and field athlete Truong Thanh Hang at the women’s 1,500m final. Meanwhile, the sepak takraw female players also won 2-0 over host, China and will meet Thailand in the final.

In the women’s 4x400m relay, athletes Le Thi Mong Tuyen, Le Ngoc Phuong, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Tham and Vu Thi Huong finished in second place in a time of 45.14 seconds and will go into the final, which is scheduled for Nov. 25.

After 10 days of competition, Vietnam has won 12 silver and 12 bronze medals, ranking 26th in the medal tally. China still tops the rankings with 164 gold, 83 silver and 79 bronze, followed by the Republic of Korea and Japan.
