Today, gold came back to Viet Nam after the victory of shooter Hoang Xuan Vinh with his 25m Center Fire Pistol.

Another three bronze medals also went into Viet Nam’s pocket today due to other shooters in the Men’s Individual Center Fire Pistol, the Women’s Individual 10m Air Rifle and the Women’s Team 10m Air Rifle Team.

However, yesterday was a disappointing day for those who anticipated more gold to drop into the pocket of Viet Nam.

The three shooters Pham Cao Son, Pham Anh Dat and Nguyen Huy Quang Phuc were expected to grab one more gold in their Men’s Team 25m Rapid Fire Pistol after they had finished the game with the new record of 1,691 points, higher than the current national record.

However, the Malaysian team proved better on the day with an excellent achievement of 1,697 points and with that took the lead. At the end of the game, one more silver medal went to the three Vietnamese competitors.

Almost 2 hours later, another Vietnamese shooter broke the “gold-dream” in the Men’s Individual 50m Riffle Prone.

After dropping to 688.3 points, the Burmese shooter, Aung Lin on 688.9 and the Thai Attapon UEA-aree on 691.2 points, this male shooter only pocketed the bronze medal while Thai got the silver and Myanmar got the gold.

In yesterday’s other events, Viet Nam only achieved the fourth prize in both the Men’s Team 50m Riffle Prone and Men’s Individual 25m Rapid Fire Pistol.

Currently, Viet Nam still remains their record and is in the top three of the 24th SEA Games with four gold medals, three silvers and four bronzes. Thailand has jumped up to the top whilst Singapore has slipped into second position.
