Vietnam will send an 800-member delegation to the 25th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Laos this December, according to a Sports Administration announcement.

Vietnam targets between 55 and 60 gold medals in the SEA Games, the region’s Olympics copy, and rank in the top three, said the announcement, which was made on Feb. 17.

Vietnam, which hosted the SEA Games in 2003, is helping Laos in preparations for this year’s Games.

The Sports Administration also announced that Vietnam expect to win 11 golds to rank sixth at the third Asian Indoor Games to be held later this year in the country.

In the 24th SEA Games hosted by Thailand in 2007, Vietnam sent 1,000 athletes and finished in the top three.
