VN needs better mechanism to develop science-technology

It is rather obvious that the better mechanism and law are necessary for the further growth of science and technology in Vietnam, affirmed Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc in a meeting yesterday in Hanoi with 300 outstanding domestic scientists of various fields.

The PM highly appreciated the contribution of all the intellectual and scientists to national achievements so far, saying that appointing the talented to their most suitable positions is one of the keys to national development.

Therefore, PM Phuc is going to spend more time listening to suggestions and proposals from scientists about the institution, policies.

The governmental course of action in the new year will be ‘Laws – Integrity – Action – Creativity – Breakthrough – Effectiveness’ for a more sustainable development and prosperous country, which requires the mobilization of knowledge and creativity from the whole community, especially the intellectual. This is a great challenge yet a wonderful opportunity for scientists, both domestic and overseas.

The PM also admitted that there still exists many problems in the policies on economy and tax related to science – technology, but then reassured that the government would try its best to renovate financial and economic rules to better suit scientific activities, such as accepting risks in scientific research.

According to the PM, certain fields should be more focused in this year, including climate change, energy safety and security, human care, innovative agriculture, social science, management and legal science in order to develop logically and protect human rights, civil rights in accordance with Constitution 2013.

"The intellectual staff at home and abroad is growing impressively, becoming the considerable potential for the stable development of the nation and the elevation of our position in the world while being able to reinforce the national pride. I believe all of us are eager to let the Vietnamese brainpower and capacity help the country grow stronger and more prosperous", said the PM.
