Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc highly appreciated all issues regarding technology companies raised in the forum to seek feasible solutions.

The Prime Minister requested that the Ministry of Information and Communications develop a proper strategy to be a legitimate guidance to boost the growth of these enterprises, in hope that Vietnam can keep up with other developed nations in Industry 4.0.

PM Phuc also affirmed that technology is one of the main factors for economic development, helping Vietnam to escape the middle-income trap. In order to achieve this, Vietnam must be able to overcome any obstacles related to policy while trying its best to master necessary technologies, management ability, invention and design capability, as well as hi-tech product manufacturing.

Therefore, the Prime Minister emphasized that technology companies are the key to transform Vietnam into a true ‘economic dragon’ in 2045, thanks to smartly building the digital, sharing and innovative economy. Despite being a bit behind others, Vietnam is still able to gain success as long as it catches all possible opportunities.

PM Phuc suggested that quicker and more determined actions must be done, traditional and outdated business methods must be replaced with more innovative ones, proper policies must be carried out to foster technology companies. All are to fulfill the motto ‘Make in Vietnam’.

Before the PM’s speech, representatives of several Vietnamese technology enterprises put forward their own recommendations regarding this issue.

According to Mr. Tran Thanh Hai, General Director of Be Group Joint Stock Co., his company aims at forming a digital ecosystem in the logistics field. To him, the startup environment for technology businesses in Vietnam still has various inadequacies such as too strict business conditions and policies or the law disobedience of foreign companies in trading to win market shares. Unless these are changed soon, otherwise, it is unable for Vietnamese people to master technologies and compete against their foreign counterparts.

As stated by Mr. Pham Hai Van, Director of Northern Branch of Haravan, the online version of each business is able to achieve positive results, leading to a particularly high demand on technology in Vietnam and an extremely lucrative chance for companies of this field.

Mr. Nguyen Trung Chinh, President of CMC Corporation, shared that the digital technology can help Vietnam to develop more strongly in the future. Industry 4.0 allows the commerce of platform systems. It also demands a higher intelligence performance, faster technology provision in all places at all time. Connections are vital to any company nowadays.

According to Mr. Nguyen The Tan, General Director of VCCorp, Vietnam is completely capable of keeping up with other developed nations as to technology thanks to its great potentials in the number of technology businesses as well as skillful human resources. However, while other countries are offering favorable tax policies, Vietnamese ones are still quite limited.

Therefore, he suggested that the government should consider the digital content as one of the key industries and try to develop the national market at all cost by paying more attention to domestic technology companies, especially those that have a high potential for exporting all-packaged products / services, not the outsourcing ones.
