Techmart Daily Fair has officially kicked off at 79 Truong Dinh Street in District 1 in Ho Chi Minh City with the aim to connect supply and demand.
With 31 companies displaying 58 tech products, the fair has already succeeded in signing two contracts worth nearly VND1 billion (US$47,910).
Techmart Daily Fair has been organized by the Center for Science and Technology Information (CESTI) and expects to boost technology transfer between Ho Chi Minh City and other regions.
The Fair has three exhibition sections--one for brochures, catalogues and models of transferable technologies and winning products from scientific competitions.
Another section is for machines and equipment from research units and one more section is for supply and demand transactions. Displayed products have been researched by scientists from universities, institutes and firms.
As the leading motivating economic force, HCMC has more than 100,000 enterprises and people working in the science arena accounting for 25 percent of the country’s population; therefore, it is necessary to be a tech pioneer to connect production and science.
Phan Minh Tan, director of the Department of Science and Technology in HCMC, said that under the People’s Committee, six programs have made breakthroughs in the period 2011-2015, and the department has implemented programs and projects for economic structural changes and growth. The city has affirmed that developing tech transfer and services play a vital role in the country’s science and tech strategies.
CESTI have been asked to organize such fairs annually to connect regions in the country with international partners to develop the sector more.
