Over 8,300 cyber attacks reported in Vietnam

The Vietnam Computer Emergency Response Team (VNCERT) yesterday held a rehearsal on cyber security themed ‘Improve the Ability to Analyze, Investigate, Rescue, and Solve Cyber Information Security Issues’ in Ho Chi Minh City.

Over 8,300 cyber attacks reported in Vietnam

The rehearsal attracted 100 officers and IT technicians from state units as well as major IT businesses in the southern region of Vietnam.

All participants practiced to analyze an Advanced Persistent Threat – APT. They had to investigate the issue, and then identify the origin of the attack, along with a list of IP addresses that the malware links to, weaknesses of victim devices, the attack method, as well as the affected scale of this attack.

The rehearsal is expected to help participants develop essential and practical skills for real life use.

Reports from VNCERT show that until the end of the third quarter of 2018, there have been 8,319 cyber attacks in Vietnam, including 1,575 cases of malware, 4,829 cases of deface, and 1,915 cases of phishing.

Noticeably, since 2011, all advanced persistent threats (APT) have always been in the top of the cyber security danger list due to their complicated attacking methods.
