Int'l connectivity from Vietnam slowed down by Internet cable error

The Asia Pacific Gateway submarine Internet cable (APG) has suffered another problem, reducing the international connectivity capacity by 930Gbps. It is expected that in the next few weeks, international connectivity speed from Vietnam will be slugging.

At the moment, Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) and other domestic network providers are closely cooperating with their global counterparts to address the issue.

Since there is no fixed time for the completion of this repair, VNPT has actively redirected international traffic to other stably working cables in order to ensure the quickest speed possible for all users in Vietnam.

The APG was reported to encounter an issue at 23:50pm on April 23, 2018 at the station in Chongming/APG/China.

The APG is the largest submarine Internet cable working in the Asian region, with the maximum bandwidth of up to 54 Tbps. This 10.400-kilometer cable runs underwater across nine Asian nations and regions of China, Hong Kong (China), Taiwan (China), Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
