According to the agreement between Five9 and IBM, the two sides collaborated to organize the launch of Watson cognitive computing platform - IBM Watson for Oncology - which will help oncologists identify evidence-based treatment option for Vietnamese cancer patients.
For the first phase, IBM Watson for Oncology will be piloted in the general hospital in Phu Tho Province. After the piloting phase, the platform will be widely adopted in hospitals across the country to help Vietnamese doctors to access to the new technology.
IBM Watson for Oncology Watson has been implemented in over 80 hospitals in 11 nations. It was developed by IBM in collaboration with Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK) Cancer Center.
It can summarize key medical attributes of a patient, and provide information to oncologists to help them deliver treatment options based on training from MSK oncologists.
Deputy Health Minister Nguyen Viet Tien said the computing platform is a progress in applying IT in healthcare field for Vietnamese patients. It is hoped to help reduce patient overload in infirmaries in the country because it can provide treatment plan in district medical clinics in early time; accordingly it can assist physicians to update knowledge.
In the framework of the event, Five9 signed agreements; one with IBM for implementation of IBM Watson for Oncology in general hospital in Phu Tho Province and one with Bao Viet Insurance Company to jointly implement the computer platform in some programs.
Additionally, Five9 signed an agreement with Onenet to add Watson for Oncology into the hospital information system via Onenet’s OneEMR system.
