Hanoi hosts demonstration of Japanese robots

The Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam and FPT University organized a lecture cum demonstration on Japan’s cutting edge technology, the Android and Robot, by Prof. Dr. Hiroshi Ishiguro from the School of Engineering Science at Osaka Universityand Nobuo Yamato, President of Vstone Company,in Hanoi on August 13.

At the event, Prof. Ishiguro, a world famous robot researcher who created one of the most advanced humanoid robots the ‘Geminoid’, first delivered a lecture focusing on his discoveries, the difference between androids and humans, accompanied with moving images and slides from his most updated research. This was followed by Yamato’s demonstration of robots produced by Vstone Company.Yamoto showed robots playing football, sumo and speaking in English.

At the end of his lecture, Prof. Ishiguro said the country has potential for making small robots for production and daily activities to assist people. In the future, Vstone Company and other Japanese companies will place orders to Vietnamese companies for manufacturing small robots.
Another similar event will be organized on August 15 at University of Technology in Ho Chi Minh City.
