2019 is considered as the sweltering year of heatwave with record temperature of above 40 degrees Celsius in some places.  This heatwave is expected to last until April 27 or 28.

The scorching temperature was caused by a hot low pressure zone from the westward in combination with operations of the southwest wind and the foehn wind.

The monitoring data showed that temperature in the Northern, North- Central and mid- Central regions tended to increase 2 or 3 degrees Celsius higher than same period of previous years.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Huong, Head of the Climate Forecast Office at the National Hydrology Meteorology Forecast Center, this hot summer season has just begun.

The Northern region is able to suffer the warm days until July whereas the Central region is predicted to experience the hot days until August.

In the Southern region, rainy season has regularly come in the beginning of May; however, this year’s rainy season is forecast later than annually.
