After making landfall, storm ‘Kalmaegi’ swept through Dong Dang district’s Keo village in Lang Son in the early morning on Wednesday.
Six people were killed and five people were injured by the storm, currently, local authorities urgently rescue the injured people and seek to dead victims, according to the latest news from reporters of Saigon giaiphong Newspaper.
Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Quang Ninh province Dang Duy Hau said that Kalmaegi made landfall in the midnight however Quang Ninh had timely preparation therefore nobody was killed by the storm.
Anyway, the statistics showed that six houses were destroyed completely, around 145 houses were unroofed and over 5,110 hectares of rice and vegetable crops were flooded under water in Quang Ninh’s Tien Yen, Dam Ha district by the storm.
In addition, the strong wind blew 20 electric poles in Mong Cai city and an antenna mast at Quang Long commune. Initial damage estimated at VND 20 billion.
Vietnam National Coal Mineral Industries Group also reported that due to influence of the storm, all electricity system at coal mines were cut down during long hours.
The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat appreciated well prepared activities of Quang Ninh province in preventing the storm. The minister also required local authorities continue to remove households to safer places to avoid landslides, flooding and flash flood.
