Typhoon Kai-tak heads towards Spratly Islands

According to the National Hydrology Meteorology Forecast Center, typhoon Kai-tak has powerfully operated in the eastern territorial water of the Philippines’ central region with its powerful wind of level 8- 10 near the center.

Yesterday evening, the tropical storm was located at around 12.2 degrees north latitude and 125.7 degrees east longitude.

Currently, Kai-tak is slowly moving towards the Paracel Islands of the south- East Sea. 

Within next 24- 48 hours, it is forecast to move the west- southwestward at a speed of 10- 15 kilometers an hour, moving closer to the Spratly Islands. 

In order to actively deal with the storm, the National Steering Committee on Natural Disaster Prevention and Control asked the southern provinces of An Giang, Ben Tre, Bac Lieu, Ca Mau, Can Tho, Dong Thap, Hau Giang, Kien Giang, Long An, Soc Trang, Tien Giang, Tra Vinh and Vinh Long to closely eye on its direction and announce typhoon information to local fishing boats.
