Temperatures soar above 41 degree Celsius in northern, central provinces

The central and northern regions of Vietnam have been sweltering in scorching heat with temperatures hitting 39-40 degrees Celsius in many places on June 21 and forecast to reach or exceed 41 degrees today, reported the National Hydro Meteorological Forecasting Center.

On June 21, these regions suffered the scorching heat from early morning to late afternoon. From noon to 6 p.m., it was suffocating hot.

Today, extremely hot weather will take place in provinces from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien-Hue with the mercury exceeding 40-41 degrees. It will hover around 40 degree in Hanoi at the weekend before abating.

In the central region, the intensely heat wave has showed no sign of abatement.
