Temperatures fall to 8-9 degrees in north

A cold front has slammed into the northern region of Vietnam and spread to the central region, causing temperature plunge to 8-9 degrees Celsius and bitter wind, according to National Center for Hydro Meteorological Forecasting.

Specifically, the mercury dropped to 14-15 degrees in the capital city of Hanoi, 15-16 degrees in Sa Pa district, Lao Cai province and 8-9 degrees in Mau Son mountain peak, Lang Son province in the afternoon on December 8.
The cold front has triggered heavy rainfall in the central region.
Many places were inundated in Nghe An province on December 8. Torrential rain  flooded lot of streets under 20-80cm of water in Vinh city; overflowed into Vinh market, swept away and damaged lot of goods. 
Residents were forced to evacuate to the higher parts of their houses because rainwater overflowed into the ground floor.
