Rains & thunderstorms hit southern region

The Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control yesterday reported that a cyclone with its strong operation swept through Luc Yen district of Yen Bai province on May 20.

The cyclone accompanied with strong wind blew up 19 house roofs and five 35 KV high voltage poles, destroyed households, harvesting vegetable and plant crops, and caused a power cut on the large scale in Yen The town and neighboring communes.

The People’s Committee of Luc Yen district mobilized functional forces to help people repair houses to stabilize quickly their lives and farms.

The National Hydrology Meteorology Forecast Center issued yesterday evening that current west south monsoon is operating stronger in the territorial water from Binh Thuan to Ca Mau, from Ca Mau to Kien Giang and Gulf of Thailand.

The west south monsoon of level 4- 7 and thunderstorm is forecast to continue hitting the areas by next two or three days.
