Nationwide weather experiences medium- heavy rain due to typhoon

Tropical typhoon Sonca weakened into a tropical low pressure system after it made landfall in Quang Tri yesterday afternoon, reported the National Hydrology Meteorology Forecast Center.

Because of the storm influence, the Con Co island, Cua Viet, coastal provinces of Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh and Quang Binh had experienced powerful wind of level 6-10.  

The central provinces from Ha Tinh to Thua Thien- Hue suffered heavy- heavy rains with its rainfall of 50-100 mm. 

By 4pm yesterday, the depression was located at 17.0 degrees north latitude and 106.8 degrees east longitude in the mainland of the provinces from Quang Binh to Quang Tri. The strongest wind near the center gusted 50-60 kilometers per hour. 

The tropical low pressure system caused medium- heavy rains in the central provinces from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien Hue, the Red River Delta, Hoa Binh, Son La and the Central Highlands region with the highest rainfall of 50-250 mm. 

The mid and south- East Sea including the Spratly Islands and the territorial waters from Ninh Thuan to Ca Mau have continued suffering showery weather, thunderstorm, the southwest monsoon of level 6-9, big wave of 2-3 meters and sea rough. 

The provinces from Ca Mau to Kien Giang and the Gulf of Thailand saw small rain, thunderstorm, cyclone and powerful wind. 

The weather center reported that the west- northern region had faced medium- heavy rain, cyclone and powerful wind last night. The humanity in Son La and Hoa Binh increased up to 72- 98 percent.  

The east- northern region and Hanoi capital saw medium- heavy rain while the northern coastal provinces of Ninh Binh, Thai Binh and Nam Dinh suffered wind of level 6, humidity of 73- 100 percent and temperature of 23- 26 degrees Celsius. 

The weather phenomenon in the provinces and cities from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien- Hue was heavy- heavy rain and powerful wind of level 3-4 for past days. 

The central coastal provinces of Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An and Quang Tri had strong wind of level 6-8, humidity of 75- 100 percent, temperature of 23- 26 degrees Celsius. 

The provinces and cities from Da Nang to Binh Thuan, the Central Highlands and the southern region experienced medium- heavy rains, strong wind, humidity of 68-99 percent and temperature of 24- 27 degrees Celsius. 

Within next 12 hours, the tropical low depression is forecast moving the west- northwestward at 15 kilometers an hour before it will weaken into the depression zone in Laos.
