Mercury soars above 40 degrees

Thunderstorms possibly together with hailstone and wind gusts will occur over wide areas in the northern region and Thanh Hoa province where it will become cold tomorrow. The heat wave will end in the country except the southeastern region with temperatures remaining unchanged at 35-37 degrees.

Hot and muggy condition will abate in the Central Highlands and the area between Da Nang city and Binh Thuan province.

The severe heat wave will reach it peak in the northwestern region and north central provinces from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien-Hue on Sunday with the highest temperature topping 40 degrees Celsius under the influence of a westerly hot low pressure zone and foehn wind.
