Mekong provinces warned about floods in end-September

Water levels on Mekong River continue to rise quickly due to high tides. It was measured at 3.89m at Tan Chau Station yesterday, 3.5m at Chau Doc Station on Hau River, issued the National Center for Hydro Meteorological Forecasting.

The center forecast water levels will peak on September 26 and 27 at 4.15m at Tan Chau Station on Tien River, above warning level 2 at 0.15m, 3.75m at Chau Doc Station on Hau River.

On September 30, water levels will reach its peak at 4.08m and is expected to reach above warning level 2 and 3 at Stations downstream Mekong River.

The flooding will be able to occur in low-lying areas of the Mekong Delta provinces of Kien Giang, An Giang, Dong Thap and Long An. The dyke systems are warned to be hit by the flooding.
