Super typhoon Mangkhut is forecast to hit the mainland on September 17, causing downpours in the northern region, becoming this year’s 6th typhoon.

On September 17 to 19, due to the impact of the typhoon, the northern and north central region will see heavy rains. The rainfall is expected to reach at 200 to 300 mm in the east north part of northern and north central region, said the National Center for Hydro Meteorological Forecasting (NCHMF).

It will be able to reach over 300mm at the northern mountainous region and the west northern and Thanh Hoa province will see total rainfall at 200mm.

Flash floods, landslides will hit the northern mountainous region and provinces of Quang Ninh, Lang Son, Cao Bang, Bac Can, Ha Giang, Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Son La, Hoa Binh.

The low-lying areas and urban localities in the provinces of Quang Ninh, Lang Son, Cao Bang, Bac Giang and Hoa Binh may be flooded by heavy rains.
