Damaged cold to hit north from December 9

A damaged cold wave is forecast to sweep through the northern mountainous provinces with the chilling temperature of 9- 11 degrees Celsius from December 9.

The latest weather news from the National Hydrology Meteorology Forecast Center of Vietnam said, equatorial pressure trough has triggered development of convection clouds in the southern territorial waters.

Currently, the pressure trough starts operating powerfully in the south part of the East Sea including the Spratly Islands, territorial waters from the provinces of Binh Thua to Ca Mau, from Ca Mau to Kien Giang and Gulf of Thailand.

Because of its influence, the cold- affected regions are going to face showers, cyclone, thunderstorms and a gusty wind of level 6-7. 

Cold mass air is covering over the northern region

Besides that, the convection clouds moving towards mainland will also result in small- medium rains and thunderstorms. Therefore, both the southern region and Ho Chi Minh City will see rainfall and thunderstorm on December 9. 

Ongoing cooler air also spread out to the northern region from December 7. 

From December 9, the lowest temperature in the mountainous areas will drop below 9- 11 degrees Celsius, and at 11- 14 degrees Celsius in the northern delta region.

The north- central provinces from Thanh Hoa- Thua Thien- Hue are warned to experience medium- heavy rainfalls, thunderstorms, cyclone, lightning, hail and strong winds.
