Country to suffer upcoming long-lasting damaging cold

The National Hydrology Meteorology Forecast Center yesterday warned that a mass of cold spell has strongly operated and spread out the southern region of Vietnam.

By January 8, the cold spell is predicted to influence in the northern and central provinces on the large scale, causing medium- heavy rains and the northeastern monsoon of level 3-4 in the north- central and the mid- central provinces.

From January 9-14, both the north and north- central region are expected to experience a dangerous cold with the daytime temperature of 10- 12 degrees Celsius. The lowest temperature in the northern mountainous provinces could drop down 5- 10 degrees Celsius. 

The cold weather is forecast lasting for at least one week.
