Cold wave to prolong another week in northern region

The National Hydro Meteorological Forecasting Center on January 6 said that the cold wave which has prolonged since December 30 in the northern and north-central regions might linger on for six to seven days more.

According to the center, another cold front is likely to move in by January 9 to further prolong cold conditions until January 13-14 in the northern and north-central regions.

Since December 30, normal temperatures dropped to 11-14 degrees celsius in the plains and 7-10 degrees celsius in mountainous areas.

Some places saw mercury fall to subzero level like in Sa Pa District of Lao Cai Province, O Quy Ho Mountain Pass and higher reaches of Mau Son Mountain.
