‘Bebinca’ expected to make landfall in northeastern region

The National Hydro Meteorological Forecasting Center has said that tropical storm ‘Bebinca’ is expected to make landfall in the northeastern region and weaken into a tropical low pressure system within the next two days.

By 7am on June 22, Bebinca was located 510 kilometers east southeast off the coast of Quang Ninh Province and Hai Phong City.

Wind gales near the eye of the storm measured at level 8-9 blowing at 62-88 kilometers an hour.

In the next 24 hours, the storm will move west and west northwestwards at 15-20 kilometers an hour to position 110km east southeast of Quang Ninh-Hai Phong coast. Winds will abate to level 8 to blow at 62-74 kilometers an hour.

The storm may later head towards the west northwest direction at 15 kilometers an hour to make landfall in the northeastern region and downgrade into a tropical low pressure system.

The tropical low pressure system will travel further inland and weaken into a low pressure zone in the northern mountainous areas by 7am on June 24. Winds will reduce to level 6 moving below 39 kilometers an hour.

After the storm, the northern parts of the East Sea will turn very rough. Provinces in the northern and north-central regions will begin to see medium to heavy rainfall from tonight, June 22.
