There are 54 items of 5 main categories, namely smartphone, laptop, digital camera, television, and digital accessories, taking part in this year’s competition.
The competition has two stages of preliminary round (held from November 28 to December 5, 2017) and final round (organized between December 7, 20107 to January 5, 2018).
All candidates must meet the criterion of being launched and sold in the Vietnam market in 2017 before the beginning of the preliminary round.
They must also employ prominent and trendy technologies of the year 2017, with forecasts, to some extent, of the upcoming tendency in the following year. The public will have 50 percent saying in the final ranks of these nominees, and the other half belongs to the member of the jury, consisting of experts and famous journalists in the field.
Accordingly, Galaxy Note8 took home Tech Awards 2017 Best Smartphone while Samsung also won Best Youth Smartphone with its Galaxy J7 Pro. Regarding Best Vietnamese Smartphone, Mobiistar Prime X Max was the winner.
The category of laptop is divided into two sub-groups of Best Laptop and Best 2-in-1 Laptop. As to the latter, Lenovo ThinkPad X1 excellently surpassed its two competitors from Acer and Dell to hold the title. As regards the former, the winner was Dell XPS 13, outweighing other products from Apple, Asus, LG, and Lenovo.
This year’s Tech Awards also divided camera category into two smaller groups of Best Camera and Best Youth Camera. Concerning the second group, Fujifilm X-A3, being better than Canon EOS M6 and Nikon D5600, won the title.
The 2017 Best Camera belongs to Canon 6D Mark II, closely surpassing its opponents, Nikon D850 and Sony A9.
Finally, Sony was announced the winner of Best Television with its Oled 65A1 model.
'Digital accessories' was the new category of this Tech Awards, and the one chosen the most was GoPro Hero 6.
Tech Awards 2017 also honored the most prominent milestones in 2017, which are Samsung Pay, the technology of paying via smartphones, Bkav’s Solution to Hack Face ID on iPhone X.
