Wartime ammunition pit unearthed in Quang Tri Province

An ammunition pit was discovered on April 15 while a bomb finding team was looking for remains of martyrs in Quang Tri Province’s Huong Hoa District.

An ammunition pit was discovered on April 15 while a bomb finding team was looking for remains of martyrs in Quang Tri Province’s Huong Hoa District.
 
Mobile bomb squad of Quang Tri Province has so far found a 160-mm mortar shell and four 130-mm shells. The team has continued to search for bombs and mines in surrounding area.
 
The central province of Quang Tri is a province that suffers most bombardment during wartime with an area of 3,866 square kilometers contaminated by bombs and mines. With an annual average bomb removal rate of 2,500 hectares, it is estimated that the province will be clear of bombs and mines after 165 years.
