VN treasures comprehensive partnership ties with Russia

General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong yesterday received Russian Federation Council and National Assembly (NA) Chairwoman Valentina Ivanovna Matviyenko at headquarter of Party Central Committee in Hanoi within the framework of her visit to Vietnam from February 20- 22.

The general secretary highly appreciated the Russian chairperson’s visit, bringing an important mean in development of Vietnam- Russian Federation traditional comprehensive friendship and partnership ties.

He strongly affirmed that Party, States, National Assembly, Government and People of his country have respected as well as reinforced the comprehensive partnership relations with Russia in giving priority to its diplomatic policies.

Chairwoman Valentina Ivanovna Matvienko stressed at the receiption that her country has also treasured both reinforcement and development for the two nations’ comprehensive partnership relations. Therefore, the country will try to impulse and deepen further Vietnam- Russian Federation comprehensive partnership relations.

National Assembly of Russia will closely collaborate with Vietnam National Assembly at international forums on a spirit of peace, stabilization and international law respect.

On the same day, Ms. Valentina Ivanovna Matvienko and Vietnamese National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi kim Ngan joined a discussion about strengthening partnership ties between localities of Vietnam and Russia.

At the event, the two leaders highly appreciated important role of the localities in maintaining the good relationship. Many territories of Russia and cities & provinces of Vietnam have important geo-politic, security and economy in developing and attracting investment, trade exchange, tourist and culture exchange.

In the context of EU- Vietnam Free Trade Agreement was effective, Vietnam and Russian Federation need to focus on boosting economy, commerce and investment cooperation.

Last year, its two- way trade turnover reached at US$ 2.7 billion and total FDI registered capital cost US$ 1.1 billion with 118 projects which was ranked 23 among 116 countries and territories invested into the Southeast Asian country.

In order to attract more and more Vietnamese investors, Russia invited localities and enterprises of Vietnam to take part in the Eastern Economic Forum at Vladivostok in September, 2017.
