Vinh Moc Tunnel recognized as special national historical site

A ceremony receiving certificate of special national historical site of the Vinh Moc Tunnel was held by the People’s Committee of Quang Tri Province on April 28.

Vinh Moc tunnel is located in Vinh Moc, Vinh Thach Commune, Vinh Linh District, Quang Tri Province.

The tunnel complex was built to shelter the people of Son Trung and Son Ha communes in Vinh Linh county of Quang Tri Province in the wartime.

The tunnel was constructed in several stages. Started in 1966 and till1971 it was put into use.

The tunnel network's total length is nearly 2 km and has three floors. It is linked to the sea by 7 exits and nearby hill by another six.

Tens of families lived in the tunnels. During that time, 17 children were born in the tunnels.
Vinh Moc tunnel is now included in tour itinerary for DMZ tour from Hue city at most travel agencies.
