Vietnam is the first country in Asia and the second in the world to ratify the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) in 1990 yet corporal punishment is causing public anger.
Averagely, over 2,000 Vietnamese kids are suffering violence and abuse. As per the Ministry of Public Security, there are 3,000 - 4,000 cases of violence against children yearly, including the murder of 100 children and 1,000 cases of child sexual abuse which have been detected.
Meantime, as per the World Vision Organization’s survey in the northern provinces of Yen Bai and Tuyen Quang showed 44 percent of children have violently punished and23 percent of them are beaten, slapped.
