Vietnam establishes East Sea Institute

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has signed a decision to set up the East Sea Institute, a new affiliate of the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, on July 12 that will effectuate on September 1, 2012.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has signed a decision to set up the East Sea Institute, a new affiliate of the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, on July 12 that will effectuate on September 1, 2012.

The East Sea Institute will follow and study the world situation, international relations, policies of countries and territories on politics, security, defense, economics, law, culture and external relations; and will issue relevant strategic forecasts based on these studies.

The institute will also be a think tank for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in building and implementing the State’s external policies.

The institute will adopt a statute on organization and operation, functions, power, and organizational structure in accordance with relevant laws.

With the new unit, the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam will have 17 affiliates.

The other 16 units of the Diplomatic Academy are, Strategic Studies Institute of Foreign Affairs; Training Center for Foreign Personnel;  Center for Information and Documentation; Administrative Office; Section of Management Sciences; Training Division; Section of Physical Education and Student Management; Faculty of Postgraduate Training ; Section of Political Theory; Section of International Politics and Diplomacy; Section of International Economics; Section of International Law; Section of Culture Media and External Relations; Section of English; Section of French; Chinese Study Section.
