At the meeting, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc thanked the partner for supporting Vietnam as a non-permanent UN Security Council member for 2020-2021 term, and he desired that both countries would strengthen mutual cooperation as well as exchange experiences about the works at the UN Security Council.

He strongly affirmed that Vietnam always respects consolidation and promotion of the friendly and traditional cooperation ties with Switzerland; and he expressed pleasure at active cooperation in the fields of politics, diplomacy, trade, investment and development cooperation between two sides during previous years.

Through the visit, the Vietnamese leader expected that new cooperation opportunities and prospects would open for each party as well as European Free Trade Association (EFTA).

Therefore, the parties needed to positively discuss about this problem, strive for the Vietnam Free Trade Agreement and EFTA to not lag behind the Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement, which has been recently signed on in capital city of Hanoi on June 30.
