Vietnam Coast Guard vessel pays first visit to India

Vessel 8001 from the High Command of Vietnam Coast Guard, Zone 3, led by Vice Commander Sen. Lt. Col. Nguyen Minh Khanh docked in Chennai port on October 2, beginning its visit to India at the invitation of Rear Admiral Paramesh, Commander of the Indian Coast Guard Eastern Region.

This was the first time a vessel of the Vietnam Coast Guard had visited India.
Following the welcome ceremony, officers of the Indian Coast Guard Eastern Region, as well as officials and students of Chennai city were invited onto the vessel.
During October 2-6, the Vietnamese coast guard delegation will pay a courtesy call to the Command of the Indian Coast Guard Eastern Region, visit the Chennai search and rescue centre to share experience in legal enforcement at sea and preventing piracy, and conduct cultural and sports exchanges with their Indian counterparts.
Earlier on October 1, the Vietnam Coast Guard and Indian Coast Guard held high-level talks in New Delhi to discuss bilateral cooperation in maritime security and safety.
The six-member Vietnamese delegation was led by Commander Maj. Gen. Nguyen Van Son while the Indian delegation was headed by Commander Rajendra Singh.
Both sides agreed to enhance cooperation in line with terms of a memorandum of understanding and share experience in operational management and promotion.
