Vietnam Airlines not to increase ticket prices

Vietnam’s flagship airline will not increase ticket prices and fuel surcharges for internal flights, a spokesman for Vietnam Airlines (VNA) said on Friday.

VNA was forced to confirm this Friday as of rumors were circulating that the airline planned to increase ticket prices for domestic flights.

“To meet the demands of holiday travels for Reunification Day (April 30), VNA pledges to increase the number of flights, ensure enough seats and not to increase ticket prices,” said VNA’s spokesman Trinh Ngoc Thanh.

According to VNA, it will not increase prices because oil prices had not changed and the government has cut import tax on petrol from 40 percent to 25 percent.

On the same day, the tourist operator The He Tre (Young Generation) offered a promotion which will reduce domestic tour prices by 35 percent.

The operator has signed a contract with VNA to cut prices for internal travel tours, said the operator.

According to the contract, plane tickets for HCMC to Ha Noi have been cut from VND3.4 million ($194) to VND1.4 million ($80), and HCMC to Hue and HCMC to Da Nang from VND 2.2 million to VND 800,000.
