Vietinbank donates charity houses, bridges to Ben Tre Province

Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank of Industry and Trade (Vietinbank) on December 15 organized a ceremony to donate 17 charity bridges and 350 houses to residents in Ben Tre Province in the Mekong Delta.

Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank of Industry and Trade (Vietinbank) on December 15 organized a ceremony to donate 17 charity bridges and 350 houses to residents in Ben Tre Province in the Mekong Delta.

The cost of 350 houses was VND10.5 billion (nearly US$500,000) and of 17 bridges around VND19.5 billion (US$926,250).

Since 2009, Vietinbank has spent more than VND105 billion in building about 837 charity houses for poor households, nine preschools, 45 bridges and upgrading the martyrs' cemetery and cultural centers in various districts of Ben Tre Province.

In related news, 69 outstanding students who are children of martyrs, veterans, wounded soldiers from the central province of Quang Tri were granted scholarships, with each scholarship worth VND1 million (US$47.5).

The Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue gave 200 scholarships each worth VND500,000 and 50 bicycles to poor but good students in Phong Dien District.
