US$4 million for upgrading fishing port in Kien Giang

Serious inundation due to climate change and overload in Tac Cau fishing port in the southern province of Kien Giang usually happen; accordingly, the construction investment project management board of the province’s Agriculture and Rural Development decided to upgrade the port.

The management board has worked out the upgrade project of two wharves 400 CV and 600 CV with estimated cost of VND95 billion ($4 million). The work will start in November, 2018.
Vice director of the fishing port management board Tran Xuan My yesterday said at present, the rising flood causes environment pollution in the fishing port. Moreover, some fish processing plants in the port secretly discharge into the river making the problem more serious.
The work is expected to complete in 2020.
Annually, Tac Cau fishing port receive around 250,000 tons of fish and types of materials. Therefore, the work will carried out each part of the port so that it will not affect the port’s activities.
