The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Vietnam has appealed to enterprises and benefactors for support in raising funds for disadvantaged children in Vietnam aimed at disease eradication.
UNICEF came to Vietnam 30 years back and is totally dependent on international aid agencies for funds which now are decreasing. Therefore more collaboration and support is required for the program to eradicate diseases among children.
Ms. Lotta Sylwander, UNICEF Vietnam representative, said that UNICEF ZERO awards has been launching, is a part of "Believe in Zero" campaign because we are expecting Vietnam children's diseases will be reduced to Zero. Anyway, UNICEF needs about US$18 million to take care of children in Vietnam in 2013. Currently, UNICEF is short by US$ 5 million for support activities against polio, measles, tetanus among newborns and other children.
