Two killed, six injured in explosion in steel company

Police in Thuong Tin District in Hanoi on March 13 said they were still investigating the explosion at the Han Viet Iron Steel Company that took place on March 9, killing two people and injuring six.

On March 9 an explosion in the Han Viet Iron Steel Company in the Quat Dong Industrial Park in Hanoi killed Than Van Hung (born 1987) from the northern province of Bac Giang, and Luong Van Dat (1979) from Thuong Tin District.

The six other men injured included Nong Xuan Dinh(1973) from the northern province of Tuyen Quang; Nguyen Van Sang (1989) from the central province of Ha Tinh; Ta Van Toan (1975) from Thuong Tin District; Nguyen Van Hieu (1985) from the northern province of Thai Nguyen; Ha Manh Tuan(1982) from the northern province of Phu Tho; and Pham Van Tuyen(1986) from the northern province of Ninh Binh.

The explosion was not reported by Nguyen Van Chuan, Director- General of the company or the company’s manager for the next two days, and police in Quat Dong Commune found out about the incident much later.
