TV Station Director suspended for ignoring storm broadcast

The Chairman of the People’s Committee of Thai Binh Province in the Red River Delta has temporarily suspended Vu Anh Thao, director of the province's Radio and Television Station, for ignoring broadcast of bulletins on Tropical Storm ‘Bebinca’.

Vu Van Nghiem, present deputy director, will manage the Station during 15 days of Vu Anh Thao’s suspension.

On June 23 when Storm ‘Bebinca’ hit the northern region, the Radio and Television Station in Thai Binh Province aired only one or two forecast bulletins.

According to the Central Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control, Hai Phong City suffered the most damage with breach along many sections of sea dykes in Do Son District.

Cao Duc Phat, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development cum head of Central Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control, has instructed Hai Phong City and Quang Ninh Province to urgently repair and fortify damaged dykes to cope with new storms expected to occur in the next few months.

Hai Phong City on June 25 mobilized more than 30,000 people including police, military and civil defense forces to repair damages caused in the aftermath of the storm.
