Tunnel cutting travel time in central region opened for traffic

After four year construction, a tunnel through Ca Pass which is expected to cut journey time in central province of Phu Yen was opened to public yesterday.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Transport Le Dinh Tho said that Ca Pass Tunnel project was implemented under the build-operate-transfer (BOT) with total investment capital of VND 11.4 trillion. 

The tunnel is expected to reduce travel time on the Ca Pass from an hour to ten minutes, create favorable condition to connect the South Phu Yen Economic Zone and Van Phong Economic Zone, and develop regional industry, commerce and tourism. 

General Director of Deo Ca Investment Joint Stock Company Ho Minh Hoang said that all vehicles travelling through the pass tunnel will not pay fee from August 21 to September 2. 

From September 3, the fee is estimated at VND 60,000- 288,000 for a vehicle.

Currently, the management board only allowed cars travelling through the pass tunnel.

Ca Pass Tunnel connecting Phu Yen and Khanh Hoa with total length of 13.19 kilometers was officially begun construction in November 18, 2012.
