Road toll revenue reached over VND2,948 billion (US$133 million) accounting for only 47.4 percent of plan because the number of newly registered trucks was low in the first six months this year, according to a representative of the Department of Registration.
Last year, the department reported a rocket of newly registered trucks as businesses rushed up purchase of new trucks to meet transport demand after tightened controls on overloaded vehicles. However the demand has been saturated this year, the representative said.
That has caused low registration number and affected road toll revenue.
Road toll collection is expected to not fluctuate much in the second half this year and total VND6,001 billion (US$270 million) the entire year accounting for 95 percent of plan.
