Transport Ministry proposes nearly $193 million for upgrading airports’ runways
The Ministry informed that the runways in the two airports are currently in poor repair because they have been overexploited for long time.
Specifically, Tan Son Nhat airport runway has had 126,000 landings and take offs by April. Consequently, the deformed runway pavement with an asphalt surface has imprinted tracks left by aircraft shafts.
Likewise, Noi Bai runway has had 284,200 landings and take offs by April and it is in poor condition.
The Ministry warned the two runways will be threats for flights’ safety; worse, the two airports will be closed if they are not upgraded urgently.
