Yesterday, a further six Vietnamese women trafficked to Malaysia to work as prostitutes were reported to have been rescued by the Malaysian Police and the Trafficked Victims Support Center of Tenaganita, a Malaysian non-profit organization.
The victims are between 18 and 26 years of age. Five were born in Tay Ninh Province, the other in An Giang, both in southern Viet Nam.
Over September and October 2007, Malaysian police raided a number of prostitution houses and rescued women said to be forced to sell sex.
The six Vietnamese victims are to fly home this evening, their air tickets paid by Afesip, a non-governmental organization established in Cambodia in 1996 to combat trafficking in women and children for sex slavery.
