Singaporean enterprises satisfy with investment environment in Vietnam

Boosting cooperation in all fields

Singaporean president Tony Tan Keng Yam believed that this visit will contribute rising strategic partnership relations between Vietnam and Singapore.

Both sides expressed their pleasure at the growth and development of bilateral relation since Vietnam and Singapore officially established strategic partnership ties in 2013. However, two sides affirmed that Vietnam and Singapore unanimously need to increase exchange programs for high- ranking delegation in various fields. 

President Tony Tan Keng Yam said that Singaporean enterprises have satisfied with the investment and business environment in Vietnam, and they will continue expanding economic cooperation with Vietnam. Besides, two countries unanimously enhance cooperation of defense and security, education, tourism, culture and exchange activities.

Mr. Tran Dai Quang invited Singaporean President and his wife to visit Vietnam in the next time.

Collaborating and supporting each other at regional and international forums

On the same day, President Tran Dai Quang met Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

At the reception, two leaders agreed to hasten effective implement of the 12th Cooperation Framework Agreement on Vietnam and Singapore Connection.

President Tran Dai Quang highly appreciated as Singapore always has maintained as one of Vietnam’s leading trade and investment partners with its two- way trade turnover of US$ 9, 3 billion in 2015.

Besides, Vietnam received more than 1, 600 Singaporean projects with total investment capital of nearly US$ 38 billion. Two sides also pledged to cooperate in defense and security, education and training, tourist, culture and others.

Discussing about regional and international problems, both sides said they will continue collaborating and assisting each other at regional and international forums, specially being the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the United Nations (UN).

General standpoint of ASEAN for solving regional conflict plays very important role in maintaining peace, stabilization, security and safety in the East Sea; two countries agreed to solve conflicts in the East Sea via peaceful measures of Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC), towards the early formation of a Code of Conducting the East Sea (COC).

Singapore will support Vietnam at the 2017 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), according to PM Lee Hsien Loong.

On the same day, President Tran Dai Quang attended and spoke at Singapore- Vietnam Business Forum, with the presence of around 600 Vietnamese enterprises and 300 Singaporean businessmen.

President Tran Dai Quang, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung, Minister of Trade and Industry Tran Tuan Anh and Minister of Education and Training Phung Xuan Nha answered questions about investment policies, education cooperation and the world’s impact to trade activities of Vietnam and countries …from two sides' enterprises 

At the event, Vietnam’s Trade and Industry Office and Singaporean Business Federation signed a memorandum of understanding about cooperation; the JSC Bank for Foreign Trade of Viet Nam (Vietcombank) and the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC) singed an agreement on GIC’s purchase of 7.73 per cent of shares of Vietcombank.

On August 29, Vietnamese president Tran Dai Quang and his wife laid wreath at Ho Chi Minh City Statue and Botanic Gardens in Singapore.

By evening, Singaporean President held a party to welcome Vietnamese President, his wife and high- ranking delegation.
