Several reservoirs in central Vietnam release floodwaters

Several hydropower plant and irrigation reservoirs in the central region are continuing to release excessive floodwaters since Thursday.

Most of the reservoirs are located in Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien-Hue, Quang Nam and Phu Yen provinces and in Da Nang City.

Water levels were exceeding permissible levels by 65-105cm in reservoirs in Thua Thien-Hue, Quang Tri, Quang Nam Provinces and in Da Nang City.

Se San 4 Hydropower Plant reservoir also released floodwaters in the central highland province of Gia Lai.

However, the management board of several reservoirs informed too late before releasing the floodwaters, causing severe flooding in low-lying areas.
