Serious traffic accident kills three, injures many

In a serious traffic accident at 7.45am this morning, August 22, three people were killed and several others injured when a truck rammed into a 50-seater passenger bus on the Da Lat-Nha Trang Route in Sar Commune of Lac Duong District in Lam Dong Province.

In a serious traffic accident at 7.45am this morning, August 22, three people were killed and several others injured when a truck rammed into a 50-seater passenger bus on the Da Lat-Nha Trang Route in Sar Commune of Lac Duong District in Lam Dong Province.

According to initial information, a 50-seater bus belonging to the Phuong Trang Transport Company traveling from Dalat to Nha Trang was hit by a sand truck, which was coming from the opposite direction.

Among the three killed was one truck staff, 40-year-old Nguyen Van Hoi, a resident of Da Lat; an unidentified passenger; and one assistant bus driver, 25-year-old Cao Minh Son, from Quang Binh Province.

Nguyen Thuan Hoa, 37, the bus driver and Pham Van Su, 37, the truck driver, have both been moved to the Da Lat emergency hospital. Many passengers also suffered injuries in the crash.

A SGGP reporter who was present at the scene reported that the Phuong Trang Company sent a vehicle to trans-ship at least five people who were slightly injured to the nearest hospital.

Pham Trieu, vice chairman of the People’s Committee of Lac Duong District, Vu Ngan Khanh, deputy director of Lam Dong Police Department, Pham S, deputy chairman of the People's Committee of Lam Dong Province, arrived at the scene soon after the accident.
 
By 9.50am, two crane trucks were sent to the scene but still could not pull out the bodies of some of the victims.

By 11am, Pham S told reporters that “each dead victim will be supported by a VND2 million compensation fund, and another VND1 million from the district fund, whereas all injured will receive VND 1.5 million each.”

Meanwhile, initial investigation by the police shows that the sand truck driver had lost control and crashed into the bus that was on its correct traffic lane. Thai Khac Hanh, legal representative of Phuong Trang Company said that the company would pay the entire medical bill of the five injured people.
